Hello there – as my .com.au domain name says – I’m Ben Grant. 

I’m an advertising copywriter who can write an idea. Sell it. And if it's really important, edit a hype reel so that ‘non-visual’ client really-really loves it and forwards it onto the CMO.

I moved from Tassie to study a Bachelor of Advertising at RMIT and paid for my 2-min noodles and rent with freelance film work for the likes of Mark Holden, Channel 7, ABC and some indie productions.

“So you worked in film, studied to be an art director - but ended up as a copywriter?” 

Well, I forgot how much I loved writing – twisting words, sayings, and sometimes very gently, arms. “How bloody good is this idea, right?!”

But those other skills do come in handy every day at work, as I can jump into any project and craft multiple elements independently.

After working solo for a time, I’ve also had the chance to partner with everyone, from juniors to seniors to CD’s, as both an art director and copywriter – it’s been the best way to learn from everyone in adland.

Fun facts: 

I taught the German Minister of defence how to setup their Instagram account… and also talked for an hour at NATO HQ to the 28 Nation States on a special social media analysis project. here 

I started a pro bono law startup that’s fully funded by the Victoria State Government and now run by Victoria Legal Aid. It helps get vulnerable people off thousands-of-dollars worth of fines, saving on average five years of stressful court hearings per client, and 22 million dollars each year for the government. here

I told Mark Holden that dressing up like a circus performer on Dancing with the Stars would be a great way to promote his new Circus documentary. Instead he dressed up like the clown from IT and it turned into a PR nightmare. here
